Capstone provides a meeting time for juniors and seniors to give extra learning opportunities for college and career possibilities, acquisition of certain life skills that will aid them once they leave home, and further articulation of their personal faith story. Much time is given to the college choice through research and by interacting with visiting college admission representatives. In addition, community speakers share each month on what their career involves. Students participate in multiple oral communication exercises, written essay practice, finance units including budgeting, credit card usage, and saving options; as well as activities of daily living such as ironing, etiquette, cost and nutritional comparison grocery shopping, and vehicle care. Community research projects and the articulation of faith stories are larger semester assignments that undergird this class. Senior portfolios will be developed as part of this course.
