Experience Blazer Athletics
Blazer athletics gives our students the opportunity to learn important life lessons through individual and team sports.  Athletes gain self confidence through challenging training sessions and game situations. They also learn the importance of good sportsmanship and how that reflects on themselves and others around them.

Back-to-back Dodge Cup Winners
Out of 125 division 1A Florida schools, SCS was recognized as having the #1 overall athletics program in the state of Florida. Of all the 700 Florida schools from all divisions, SCS is one of only five schools that have won the Dodge Cup in consecutive years.

SCS SENIORS EXCEL!

SCS senior swimmers sign letters of intent early as they are sought after by major universities!

Senior, Austin Detra became the Blazer's first State Champion in any of its sports. A gold medalist in the 200- and the -500 freestyle events, Austin has signed a letter of intent with the Florida Gators. "Detra adds yet another Olympic Trials qualifier to the list for Florida this season. Detra was the YMCA national champion in the 500 and 1,650-meter freestyle," reported U of F. Along with Senior Sara Conner, the two helped their club team, the Sarasota YMCA Sharks, to a national short course championship.

West Virginia University's coach Riggs announced Sara Conner's signing: "Conner, a two-time Herald Tribune all-area selection and All-American selection in 2006-2007 at Sarasota Christian, will join the Mountaineers as a mid to long distance swimmer. . . She also finished in fourth place in the 500 free and in sixth place in the 200 free at the class 1A FHSAA finals.

“Sara is going to be a great addition to the WVU women's swimming and diving program,” says Riggs. “With her background in freestyle events she is going to add great depth to our relay teams and our middle to long distance events. I am excited about what Sara will add to the program and I am looking forward to her involvement with the team.”

“I am also excited about what Sara brings to the classroom,” says Riggs. “Sara is a solid student athlete who currently maintains a 3.50" . . . Conner has excelled not only in the water but in the classroom as well. In 2005 and 2006, Conner was named a scholastic All-American for her GPA, and has remained an honor roll student her entire high school career.

SCS Senior Golfer Craig Stevenson

Craig recently joined the elite Herald Tribune All-Area Golf Team. Advancing two straight years to Regionals as an individual, Craig shot his personal best 69 (three under par), to enter into a three way playoff. He was just squeaked out of making it to the state finals.
