The international competitionThe International competition takes place May 26 - May 29 at Michigan State University, and offers an invaluable experience for these children. The SCS teams will be able to set a steller example of what it means to be a Christian as they compete in this competition. Please be in prayer for these children as they prepare to perform on the world stage. Our 5th Grade TeamSarasota Christian School's experienced 5th grade team won 1st place at the state competition. Children in Odyssey of the Mind use their creativity and problem-solving skills to create solutions to problems that they work on for about six months. It is completely up to the children to come up with ideas, engineer technical features, make costumes and props, and present their interpretation of the answer to a highly complex problem. Our 7th Grade Team
This year, Sarasota Christian School's team of veteran 7th graders pulled off an amazing three-peat performanceat the state competition. They placed 1st in the State of Florida for the 2nd year in a row and will be traveling to World Competition for the 3rd year in a row. The 7th grade solved a problem written and created by NASA. Sing to the LORD, for he has done glorious things;
let this be known to all the world. Isaiah 12:5
Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and World level. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries participate in the program. |
