Odyssey of the Mind

2015 World Competition Results

SCS sent two high school teams to the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals at Michigan State University. Both teams turned in stellar performances and ranked in the top 10 for each of their problems.

The school’s sophomore team made its 5th appearance at World Finals and came in 9th overall, after placing 1st in the State of Florida.

The senior team completed its 10-year run in the Odyssey of the Mind program. They have been State Champions for the past seven years, made their 8th appearance at World Finals and came in 8th overall. This team has also won the State of Florida Ranatra FuscaCreativity Award for the past four years.

Both teams enjoyed the presence of Odyssey of the Mind founder Dr. Sam Micklus at their long-term presentations. Out of over 840 teams from around the world, our teams were honored that Dr. Micklus chose to come to their
presentations!

2015 Regional Competition Results

Sarasota Christian School fielded seven teams at this year's Sun Region Odyssey of the Mind Competition.  The school's second grade primary team forecasted some wacky weather and had a great day at competition.
The brand new 3rd grade team navigated a runaway train at competition and displayed amazing teamwork.  Another brand new team, the 4th/5th team, came in second in its division and problem for the spontaneous part of the competition.  SCS' team of 5th graders, competing against an increased number of other teams, came in second in spontaneous and third overall in its division and problem.  The Middle School team performed admirably under pressure when the Odyssey of the Mind founder appeared at their entertaining and humorous performance.  The team turned in an impressive score and earned a second place spot in the style part of the competition.

The school's two high school teams both presented highly technical and well-done performances, each earning a spot to compete at the Odyssey of the Mind State Competition at UCF.
